Upon checking the San Fernando Valley events calendar for January, here are some of the fun activities that you and your family can enjoy throughout the month:

Holiday on Strings!

Through Friday, January 5 – 8:00 PM
Bob Baker Marionette Theatre
1345 W 1st St., Los Angeles (Echo Park)

It’s wonderful that this historic institution is still around performing the same shows as it did in the 1960s. It provides entertainment for all ages as the adults can join the children sitting on the carpeted floor and add to their own experience by seeing the show through a child’s eyes and the interactive moments between the marionettes and the children. A fantastic cast of more than 100 enchanting marionettes take a magical journey through the holiday galaxy as they celebrate in approximately 30 acts accompanied by wonderful music.

Eat Your Way Through LA

Saturday, January 6 – 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Red Line Station, Universal City

This tour includes walking and riding public transportation that goes through tunnels of LA’s Red Line Subway from Downtown to Koreatown to Hollywood. It transports a maximum of 25 guests to five secret spots for food, culture, and city secrets.

Pancakes and Pajama Party
Saturday, January 6 – 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Bareburger Organic, 2732 Main St., Santa Monica

Come in your pajamas after posting to #pancakesandpajamas for access to a $14 Bottomless Mimosa made with their organic orange juice. There is a limit of 90 minutes on the Bottomless Mimosa with the purchase of brunch.

Ninong’s Pastries and Cafe
Sunday, January 7 – 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM
19524 Nordhoff St., Los Angeles

Join the celebration for their Grand Opening in this new location that will have giveaways, raffles, and live entertainment. Enjoy their famous ube pancakes with grated purple yam and topped with sweetened macapuno, traditional Filipino fare, or some newly inspired dishes, and perhaps take home a jar of their delicious ube cookie butter!

Half Marathon and 5K
Sunday, January 21 – 7:00 AM to Noon
Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena

The picturesque course goes through Pasadena, will pass famous landmarks, and finish on the field at the world-famous Rose Bowl. Participants must be at least 12 years old. Each participant will receive a race shirt, a finishers medal, and post-race refreshments. The half marathon and 5K will both begin at 7:00 AM but in separate corrals.
